Follow-up Comment #2, bug #25909 (project gnustep): It sounds like when you launch Gomoku from the MinGW shell, you probably have sourced GNUstep.sh so have all the GNUSTEP_XXX environment variables set. When you launch it by double-clicking on it, no environment variables are set. That
