I have a compaq computer that I recently inherited. I believe it came w/
Linux on it and the previous user also installed WindowsME.
Every time I booted, I would have to go through the process of typing in at
the GRUB prompt:
hide (hd 0,1)
unhide (hd0,0)
rootnoverify (hd 0,0)
chainloader +1
Me again...
Sorted it out now with the newly released grub-0.92 and using automake-1.5 and
autoconf-2.53.
Here's a spec file to do it plus a patch for the diskonchip patch.

I have installed RedHat 7.2 withGRUB as the
bootloader.
After I have configured it as a router I do not
need the cdrom in the system.
So I removed the cdrom and rebooted.
I get GRUB stage2..read error
If I put the cdrom back in the system I can
see
GRUB Boot cdrom
and then it boots from the

vga16.patch for GRUB 0.92,

and make Russ Dill's fsys_cramfs.c full patch
(including mini_inflate.[ch]) for GRUB 0.92,
