Follow-up Comment #4, bug #30574 (project grub):

The problem is something to do with the RAID controller.

I had to move one of my RAID harddiscs to other equipment. Changing 'Drive
Controller' in my BIOS from 'RAID On' to 'RAID Autodetect/AHCI' allows me to
get to my second XP using:

root=(hd1,1)
drivemap -s (hd0) (hd1)
chainloader (hd1,1)+1
boot

To double check I changed the 'Drive Controller' back to 'RAID On' and used
the commands above and I got a black screen with a blinking cursor. (Having
the 'Drive Controller' as 'RAID On' but with no RAID discs set up still allows
me to get into my first XP).

Then changing the 'Drive Controller' back to 'RAID Autodetect/AHCI' allowed
me to get to my second XP using the above commands.
