I would like to implement this, however the bzr branch of grub seems to be
rather buggy, is there an RC version that I can work from that has this
implemented or can you point me to the revision where this was implemented so
I can try

EFI net support is already implemented in net branch. And rather than saying
rather buggy please point to exact bugs.
