convert-ly does not convert to 1.9.0 or later

I have quite a lot of lilypond source that I did back in the 1.3 and 1.6.6 days. I have almost nothing that convert-ly will process, since it usually produces errors like those below. (By the way, this is lilypond 2.1.0, running on a Debian woody system with some later versions of, e.g., guile.)

I think the "8" symbol in an ottava clef (G_8) shouldn't be counted when calculating staff extent, because lyrics will be to low in that case. (Now Lily thinks that there will be some collision or too small space below the staff but that's not true, because there is nothing under the "8" symbol, s
