What xdvi environment variable should be read for TeX PS header files? TEXPSHEADERS is the correct envvar as far as I know (it's been some years since I maintained tex-k...). Why it's not getting read, I don't know. I'll send a bug report to tex-k, I guess.

An alternative to the symlink is to set the environment variable TEXPSHEADERS to "/usr/local/share/lilypond/1.6.6/tex/:" Actually, in order to find the postscript headers I think .../ps is needed, not .../tex. Anyway, neither one fixes xdvi for me. I tried a number of variations (.../ps/

An alternative to the symlink is to set the environment variable TEXPSHEADERS to "/usr/local/share/lilypond/1.6.6/tex/:" (or wherever you have installed Lilypond). Note the semicolon at the end. Of course, we have to find a better placement of the file in future releases. /Mats Werner LEMBERG

$(datadir)/.../dvips vs. .../ps

2002-11-21 Thread Karl Berry
In lilypond 1.6.6, using dvips(k) 5.90a (from TeX Live 7), I find that music-drawing-routines.ps is not being found. I added -d -1 to the dvips invocation in ly2dvi, and found that it was searching for a directory name `dvips' instead of `ps': Preprocessing special: header=music-drawing-routines.
