Please explain to me how to install the LILYPOND program on my X22 laptop,
which
is using UBUNTU. So far I have not got anywhere, trying to follow the
instructions on your web site(s)

Lilypond is not installed in Ubuntu by default. You can use the Synaptic
Package Manager to install it.

This question is best to ask on the lilypond-user list, not the bug
list; but here is an answer for you anyway:
In synaptic make sure the universe repository is selected (you can do this
from Settings-Repositories). Then reload the package information, select
lilypond and install it. Alternatively if you already know this repository is
activated, you can simply open a terminal and type:
sudo
