Unfortunately the Cygwin version of GNU make is not identical to what's
distributed by the FSF, and only the FSF version is really supported on
this list.
I suggest you contact a Cygwin developer's list or site and see if they

I've discovered some odd behaviour with make v3.79.1 as included with the CygWin
development tools package.
When calling ccppc (a PowerPC cross-compiler) via make, any error messages generated
