The script without -s will crash at least parted 2.3.

fix would be to grep the output of "locale -a" for a UTF-8 locale to
use -- and not run the test at all if there isn't one.

DIAG250 cares about the CMS block size; directly talking to the disk
with CCWs doesn't. I think. It's been a while since I had to know this.
Anyway, if the patch didn't break anything for existing users it's
definitely an improvement.
