Don't use fastforwarding, if you use firewall. BTW, I didn't find

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, just rebuilt with the patch, no longer
need to set ifconfig_em0="DHCP polling" in /etc/rc.conf, the patch appears to
have solved the problem entirely.

If you run DragonFly-master it is likely caused by recent kernel changes.

I was also seeing this issue on my Thinkpad x201.
After flashing the alternativ coreboot BIOS all my USB sticks work perfectly.
Interestingly, FreeBSD and stock BIOS also worked ok.

Fixed by commit 53005b098da18ed02da4c57627c0c2a29a957f37. The problem was
actually UFS-on-NVMe corruption concerning TRIM commands.
