It seems the problem was indeed addressed upstream. Maybe this will be
of some help if a more recent version is not the path to be taken.

Known problem. Almost certainly a bug in the (Linux) drm code. Not
obvious where though. Not really high on my priority list to fix this
though. Kinda hope that this will disappear all by itself at some
point if/when we update the drm code to a more recent version.
