I have a feeling you'll like the KW, and congrats for doing the research. I probably would have done the same at a $50 price difference (I paid less than $150 for my almost new 5888UV - it was a "no-brainer"). I have to say, though, the Chinese manufacturers don't makeup those names. Radio

Gary, Except for the business of spending more on the antenna system than the rig ( not ), I think that you made some wise choices. There is good reason to get an AX.25- ready & dual band rig ( eg. APRS possible ) to be 'better' equipped. Let me know if you need an A/B coax grounding switch
