The wire idea might just work and two 17 AWG = one 14 AWG equivalent.
Also, I will be doing the left knee in a few more months and I am at 118°

Gary, I know where you are with the knee, I have had both replaced, it did
hurt like hell but will soon feel great. Work hard on the PE, get that knee
fex to 105 degrees.
