I had a great time at my second Field Day, many thanks to the officers,
members, and volunteers from BVARC, Texas DX, and Houston Echo for making
this happen!
Special thanks to my AMSAT buddy, Fernando NP4JV, who told two other
stations trying to swamp me on the *LAST* SO-50 orbital pass of Field
I was thrilled to take part in tonight's Rag Chew Net, and made my first HF
contact (with my rig) with Roy, W5TKZ, at a whopping distance of 9 miles.
He noted my signal was weak.
However, after our net, I stumbled across members of the 3916 Net, and had
a strong signal report from a station in Flo
I turned around and headed home due to high water on Broadway. A truck or
SUV probably could have made it, but we were down single-file in the left
lane, and when the water reached the floorboards on my car (and was
starting to top the median), I took a turn-around and headed home.
