source! Even though I couldn't get it to work for me right now, I will
continue to pursue it and post back if I figure out anything new. I
learned a bunch about frameworks by testing out CakePHP, and just want

Noting in Cake needs recompiling. Sounds like a problem with your
host. You should setup a local environment and you should not have any
problems.

A follow up for others in this situation: I contacted my helpful
webhost. He can run 'bake' and 'acl.php' when logged in as root, but
my 'jailed' SSH command line for my site will not allow my user 'out'
to access mysql. My webhost says there is no fix for this. I don't
know how to recompile acl.p
This is related to the cli version not being compiled with mysql
support. There are a few other posts on this group. Have a search and
see what you can come up with. Normally, people encounter this problem
with Bake.

I have cakePHP 1.1.18.5850 on a shared Unix server, with MySQL5,
PHP5.2.4, and PHP running as CGI (PHP suexec), as opposed to it
running under Apache.
I installed cake, created a database, configured it to connect to the
database, and my cake 'home' page says it works properly:
