Whatever the platform, we are in agreement, it should be open.

There are many free databases following the hierarchic model (as
Berkeley does), GT.M is maybe the best option, there are also small ones
(with other purpose) like SQLite, also free software.
The GT.M project also includes a Mumps compiler and interfaces for
others languages. It is hosted at Sou

Well Typo3 has Xvid/mp3 section and it is a little bit bigger than wmv (I

A little bit better than Care2x itself.
It has knowledgeable and very active developers and mailing list. Since
August 2004 they have a few corporations backing them up and injecting
money in the project.
Antas, you're my man! :-)
Just one question, what about postgresql support and how does that work?
info: Compiere took oracle as database so that they don't have to think
about the support for the database...

No they haven't. Is it because MPEG4 is a proprietary format?

Hi Mike,
First thanks for the info and your "contras". Looks like you know a lot
about cache and Intersystems. I will tell you my reasons behind this idea in
a private mail tomorow.
I will be contacting Children Hospital in Cinncinnati which are using cache
and some other solution, see what they
It's just the way I encoded it... I could do that entire video in about 3 megs

If you can, please provide the URL to the typo3 videos and i will take a look
at it.
thanks!

The Cache installations in use are licensed with the product the hospitals
purchased (ie IDX, EPIC, etc).
It would be much easier to covert AWAY from Cache... I've already done it for
several hospitals. I can pull data out of Cache like there is no tomorrow.
I recommend you talk to some of the

OK, what free video production software do you suggest (capturing screen of
GUI and console)? I find Mike's video great but 24,5 Mb is a little bit
heavy for 640x480 and ca. 8 minutes. the whole howto collection of typo3 is

I agree with your opinion, and thats why I asked. I think we should take an
example of typo3 (they have installation videos for several systems). But
why make videos at all not all people that are interested in
experimenting with care2x are experts (some of them are doctors) and I think
those p

Ok, this is my point of view regarding cache. There are thousands of
hospitals in USA running with cache as backend and thousands of them already
have invested in Cache licenses. So why not use those licenses and just put
Care2x on top of them? Or do you think somebodey who paid 250K for

A little history... there used to be several M vendors, then Intersystems (makers of
CACHE??? You have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!
Cache is an expensive proprietary database that is inferior to MySQL in every
way! How do I know? Because I developed in Cache for many, many, MANY years!
Cache costs millions for hospital implementations. Their licensing structure
totallly sucks.

Hello Emir,

them. You can then use them as examples for your group to follow. Send us the

Hi all,
I have seen some great tutorial videos on typo3.org and I was wondering
which software did they use to capture screen and audio? They also used
Windows media encoder to lower down the size of videos (impressive
compression). I was wondering if there is some interest in creating this
