Doug Beattie and I went to Stewart Park and searched the green floating masses
off the tennis courts then searched the shores to the west then to the east and
saw a beautiful Blue Goose amongst some Canada Geese and many Mallards, No
Phalaropes and not much else out there or near shore.

Doug Beattie and I saw the same 3 birds at Meyers Point north of Ithaca this
evening. As we were driving away a guy with a dog walked out to the end of the
point. Oh well.

Don't give up!! This was my 4th try this past wk. to see the Avocet & goodness
knows how many since spring to see a Bittern.
At 7:45 this evening a very helpful birder from Syr./Oneida Birds helped me
find the A. Avocet just as I was ready to give up .. mosquitoes were REALLY
blood thirsty.

semi was doing the "jimmy-legs", tapping the ground quickly with one
leg, presumably to scare up some grubs?

Hello all:
I headed out to Stewart Park this afternoon in search of the Red-necked
Phalaropes and was not disappointed. I saw 3 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES fairly
far out (needed a scope to ID them) in the floating vegetation off the
tennis courts, which were still there when I left at 12:15pm. Other

This morning I arrived at Stewart Park around 8:45am and found a small group
of about 8 peeps out from the tennis courts. I couldn't make out a ton of
detail, so I started looking for the RED-NECKED PHALAROPES, and I eventually
found all four that Tom found yesterday. Eventually all of the peeps st
at least 2 rn phalaropes still off tennis courts at 8.50am

Along Sapsucker Woods Road on Saturday morning (~8:00 AM), I found a songbird
flock that included MAGNOLIA, CHESTNUT-SIDED (2+), BLACKBURNIAN, BLACK-THROATED
GREEN, BLACK-AND-WHITE, NASHVILLE (2+), and WILSON'S WARBLER, plus a Red-eyed
Vireo, and some chickadees, titmice, and woodpeckers.
