Today after work, Steve and I headed out to find Short-Eared Owls north of
King Ferry.
Just past the Tompkins Co Airport on Hillcrest Rd., a small flock of 12-15
SNOW BUNTINGS flew off the roadway.
Our first good sign that we might find some SEO's was a male N. HARRIER
flying over a weedy field

Hi all,
I was in Aurora today so had a chance to look again for the Eared
Grebe. My first visit at 1:30 pm didn't yield an Eared Grebe, but there were 9
HORNED GREBES in very close proximity. A nice flock, 85, of COMMON GOLDENEYE
were close in.

The MOCKINGBIRD that's been hanging around Hospicare but eluded me on the
Christmas Count is back today. Also had a RAVEN croaking and honking (I guess
"cronking", as read in an earlier post, is the perfect word) overhead as I took
my lunchtime walk.

I came home from errands early this afternoon to a flock of 15 Common
Redpolls crowded onto my porch feeder, causing a bit of confusion for the
local B C Chickadee group. They couldn't even land on the feeder, much less
get any seeds...The Redpolls are a new yard bird.
