While Hawk Mountain is an incredible location, the trip is fairly long and
the spring count is relatively low numbers compared to the count in the
fall. Having been to both Derby Hill and Hawk Mountain, I suggest you'd see
a lot more birds at Derby Hill this time of year.

On the way back from Entomology to BTI, I watched a lone loon head towards
lake. Just a couple of minutes ago a loose flock of 14 Brants seemed to be
heading towards the lake.

On Sat. April, weather permitting, Meg and I are planning to take a day
trip to Hawk Mountain in Pa. Leave early sat. AM and return later that

I got a very satisfying view of a Vesper Sparrow on Mount Pleasant in
scope that flew off and chased another sparrow, potentially a mate.
About 100 m East of the observatory along the graveled tractor path
leading south, in shrubs about 20-30 m from road. Then flew into

Chipping Sparrow arrived in my yard today too.

Just had my FOS Chipping Sparrow at my feeders. Must be moving North from the
Ithaca area.
By the way, please report your first sightings of Orioles and Hummingbirds.
