One of my best spring listening for night flight calls is happening now - in
the past 15 minutes I've heard nearly 50 thrushes (mostly Swainsons), 6
BLACK-BILLED CUCKOOS, AMERICAN BITTERN, SOLITARY and SPOTTED SANDPIPERS, etc.

Today's lunch walk seemed like the usual late spring walk with lots of birds
singing. Most residents are back with a few migrants. Regular breeders were

In addition to singing BLACKPOLL, TENNESSEE, and YELLOW-THROATED VIREO on
Tareyton Drive in Northeast Ithaca this morning, I found a PRAIRIE WARBLER
acting territorial in the open red pine stand east of the Arrowwood Drive
medical park, while walking the dog. This habitat patch has always looked
A couple good birds on a quick spin around Wilson Trail North just now,
including a singing WILSON'S WARBLER along with Blackpoll, Magnolia, and
Canada at the Sherwood Platform, and a singing PHILADELPHIA VIREO over the
feeder along the pond.

Montezuma NWR. Glossy Ibis, maybe same reported by M & J Tetlow, seen about
9:30 AM Sunday, May 19. Flew into first lagoon east of auto tour
road (Larue?), touched down and quickly departed high and southward toward
Cayuga lake. A low flying Bald Eagle may have been the reason.
