This afternoon at about 3:30 we saw and heard at least two killdeer in the
field on Hopkins Rd near Hayts Rd, FOY for us. Lots of red winged
blackbirds were calling also.

Patricia and I did a car trip, visiting swamps from West Danby to Spencer, Van
Etten, Alpine, Cayuta Lake (the NYS boat launch), Trumbull Corners and
Newfield, hoping we might run into some Rusty Blackbirds. Struck out on those,
but I thought It worth mentioning that a Bald Eagle is already

Lake. We skipped many usual stops but still found many interesting birds

A pair of Wood Ducks dropped into my pond early this morning, and now that the
sun is shining one Fox Sparrow has begun singing from deep in the thickets of
the old apple orchard.

Hello all,
My apologies for this late report; I thought I had sent this note successfully
from the field yesterday, but I mis-directed it!
The Tufted Duck, found by Brooke Morse last weekend, was refound by Willie
D'Anna yesterday. The eBird hotspot is called "Canandaigua Lake - Vine
Around 4.00 am I woke up to what it sounded to me like tooting, heard about 5
toots. Bird sounded as if it was far away. I did not have my windows open. I
have been awake since. Once more I heard around 4.41 am another 5 or 6 toots.
Not heard since then again.
