Observed a pair-male and female-of pileated woodpeckers exploring the pickings on a cottonwood and ash tree in our backyard on Pleasant Hollow Road in Freeville yesterday evening. They spent a long time with us. Lovely! Guess we should start looking around for a nest hole somewhere nearby..
