I just learned of the mass mortality of migrating birds in New Mexico. I read
a CNN report. Is there any new information on the cause? They’re talking
hundreds of thousands, even millions.

Union Springs .. Just had a female hummingbird at the feeder at 2:43
p.m. She looks plump so hopefully she's getting a good supply of insects
to get protein to put on body fat for her long, treacherous, strenuous
journey. She took 17 long sips of sugar water.
Gold finches were also here, busy

Every time I take my daily walk up Mt Pleasant Rd I wonder whether this will be
the day when finally the late summer kestrels will have left for the year...but
no! There were twelve American Kestrels arrayed along the wires on the dirt
road to the radio tower a couple of hours ago!
