We had 3 or 4 Orioles at our feeders yesterday. They were enjoying the
hummingbird feeders and devoured an orange. Hope they are still here today!
Also, had hummingbirds on the 10th.

Dean's Cove Boat Launch remains inactive. I haven't seen a bird there all
spring/summer. These nests are all on NYSEG poles.

Yesterday we saw one Osprey on the nest at the top of the hill on
Ernsberger Road, Romulus. Near Knapp Winery.
Coordinates are 42.7645507 X 76.778507
This is the first Osprey that I have seen on this nest.

Indeed, we do have our usual chickadee flock, but even our usually high
numbers of Juncos are scarce this winter.
If it is WNV, what should we be doing with our feeding stations?

Every year for many years we have had swallows nesting under our dock. Some
are Barn Swallows, may also have Rough-Winged. Hard to tell as they move so
fast. They seem tomanage very well with the water. We are 1/2 mile or so
north of Ellen.

We are about 80% sure it was a Short-eared Owl who flew very close to our
car as we were driving at Rt 96 and CR 129 in Ovid, 40 min ago. Definitely
not a Northern Harrier.
Question --- would this be legitimate to put on my GBBC for today?

guys are going through Nyger seed at a rapid rate! And my large flock of

SALLY . . .
Thanks for your note and kind words about my Web site.
No one knows
I am wondering why the males leave earlier than the females in the fall? I
know that they return in May earlier to establish territory for mating, but
why do they leave earlier in the fall?
