I stood at the overlook in the SE corner of Beebe Lake at Cornell this
morning for about a half hour to see what might come by. A RED-WINGED
BLACKBIRD was singing from down below and a KILLDEER and BELTED KINGFISHER
made some noise, but went unseen. A TURKEY VULTURE lazily circled over the
lake, an
Walked around Beebe looking for green heron, but did not find any. Did see
female common merganser, one osprey and a pair of hawks, maybe Northern
Goshawk? I am trying to improve in identifying hawks so would be interested to
hear if others have seen them.

On my walk around Beebe early AM today: Quite a bit of open water with
4 COMMON MERGANSER. Also CANADA GEESE are apparently staking out
nesting sites on the island towards east end of Beebe. From other
posts, seems birds are getting a jump on spring.

This is one of the domestic ducks that was dumped and people are currently
trying to rescue. They have successfully captured a couple of them Not a
wild hybrid. I am going to copy the other people concerned with your email,
perhaps someone will want to contact you to help them locate this holdout.
There has been a flock of mostly black domestic/barnyard ducks that were
dumped at Beebe sometime over the summer. They could frequently be seen
making forays between the Dean's Graden behind Warren Hall and the southern
shore of Beebe, and would occasionally come up to people seemingly looking
for
I haven't seen this duck, but for what it's worth, an AMERICAN COOT (good
campus bird!) has been foraging around the east end of Beebe Lake. It was
first found by Hope Batcheller on Wednesday and was still present last
night.

today and found two HORNED GREBES (one in mostly basic and the other mostly
alternate plumage) and a pair of LESSER SCAUP.
On my way home I checked George Road again, where the only different bird
