Walking up the hill at the Eberhard FLLT Nature Preserve on Coddington Rd.
(southern Tompkins county), my son and I were serenaded Sunday afternoon by
a Hermit Thrush and along the way we counted 40 Eastern Newts.  Having
rained recently, the conditions must've been perfect for them to be out;
this was the trail with the white blazes. Also heard were red-eyed vireo,
ovenbird, wood thrush, and veery.
