Walking up the hill at the Eberhard FLLT Nature Preserve on Coddington Rd. (southern Tompkins county), my son and I were serenaded Sunday afternoon by a Hermit Thrush and along the way we counted 40 Eastern Newts. Having rained recently, the conditions must've been perfect for them to be out; this was the trail with the white blazes. Also heard were red-eyed vireo, ovenbird, wood thrush, and veery.
