2023-04-21 Thread Kevin C Packard
This morning (~9am) there was a greater yellowlegs foraging around a gravel bar in the mouth of Salmon Creek, readily viewable from Myers. A nice flock of Bonaparte's gulls and three caspian terns were also present. Cheers, Kevin Kevin Packard -- Cayugabirds-L List Info:

Might be a young bird that never tried to breed. Or a failed breeder already on its way south. The first option is my best guess. For more info see below: Pete Sar Timing of Fall Shorebird Migration - BSBO https://www.bsbo.org/timing-of-fall-shorebird-migration.html On Sat, Jul 3, 2021, 11:08 AM

Yesterday, I saw 6 Greater Yellowlegs in the freshly drained Storage Pond on Howland's Island in Savannah. It was flurrying so hard, it was hard to see at times! I hope they get a move on and head south sooner rather than later. Other birds of note on the island- 1 Belted Kingfisher, ~20 Snow
