Sunday, 12 April, The Wells College boathouse provided: 50+ Horned Grebes close to the dock. Some in breeding plumage and even began their courtship dance and song. Fabulous. A Merlin, or possibly two, called off and on for about two minutes from about 100 yds east of boatchouse and about 100 yds east of Rt 90 from direction conifer trees just northwest of the large/tall red steeple and along the crescent-shaped, one-way road that passes through part of Wells South Campus. Further info on hawks appreciated.
