Many more peeps today. Mostly least sandpiper. Flocks all over. So far 1
pectoral sandpiper and 1 dunlin. Also 4 semipalmated plovers just south of
potatoes bldg. Many more shorebirds distant. Had 1 dowitcher presumably
short billed but too far to be sure. Waterfowl numbers way down.

Loaded with Gulls, snow geese. Lighting poor now. Mostly Herring gulls
but did pick out one adult lesser black backed Gull.

This morning, I trekked up to visit and scope out the area of Savannah
Mucklands and the Armitage Road areas for field birds. I was there from about
7:30am to 8:30am.
In the fields near the Potatoes building were about 10+ Savannah Sparrows, 8
Horned Larks and 3 AMERICAN PIPITS.

Two hours at the Mucklands and the roost flight appeared to be into the mucks
rather than away from them. Many gulls (1000), most very distant, and mostly
Herring with some Ring-bills mixed in. Good numbers of distant ducks but I
could only find 3 species. Snow goose numbers building from 1 t
Thousands and thousands of gulls. Hundreds of tundra swans. Geese by the
boatload. Mostly canadas but still a good amount of snows. The gulls were
mostly ring billed but many had all black bills from foraging in the muck. Also
many herring, 1 GBB and a few candidates for iceland and 1 for glauc
This evening I took note of a remarkable eBird report and Geneseebirds post
from Dave Tetlow. He reports that he and Kurt Fox had a sweep of all the
area's goose species in the Savannah Mucklands on Monday, including one each of
BRANT, CACKLING GOOSE, ROSS'S GOOSE, and GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOO
Bob McGuire just called again (12:45 PM). He has found five AMERICAN
GOLDEN-PLOVERS just south of the intersection of Routes 31 and 89 in the
Savannah Mucklands, close to the road in a newly-harvested potato field.
