One SHORT-EARED OWL seen this afternoon next to the Long Point Winery. It
appeared at 1703, light dim and owl did not appear to be troubled by the wind.

Walking back from the mailbox this morning, I had a Short-eared Owl fly low
across the field in front of me. It landed briefly in a hedgerow until chased
back up by crows. The crows proceeded to escort it higher and higher until it
finally disappeared into the overhanging clouds to the south.
Marshall Iliff, Ken Rosenberg, and I had a Short-eared Owl again this
evening over the field of tall switchgrass on Bluegrass Lane. This is the
first report from Bluegrass (that I know of) since Ken had a SEOW here last
Friday, but I don't know how many times it's been looked for since then.

Last evening, right at dusk, a SHORT-EARED OWL was hunting over the north end
of the giant switchgrass field on west side of Bluegrass Lane, just off Hanshaw
Rd. I squeaked with my hand, and the owl came right at me, veering just 10 ft
or so from my head — even my dog was fascinated and watched
Went to see the SE Owl show at Long Point Winery this evening. There were at
least six birds active. One had a run-in with a female Northern Harrier in the
air--perhaps a vole ownership dispute.
This was my second time seeing this particular show in my life and I recommend

At 3:25 this afternoon while sitting at the kitchen table, a movement outside
caught my eye. It was a SHORT EARED OWL hunting in the pasture next to my house

Airport viewed from halfway down Snyder Road. I first spotted it perched on
a small pole in the field. It changed poles twice, soared around a bit,
then headed off across the road into the woods. This was at about

Late this afternoon I took a quick trip up the west side of Cayuga Lake to Montezuma NWR. The biggest highlight was finding a SHORT-EARED OWL on East Road, Tyre. When I arrived it was perched atop a sapling in the weedy field across from the lone house. This was at 5:30pm, well before sunset. After

129 in the town of Ovid, yesterday, December 8, about 5pm. We drove several
roads in the general area and saw several northern harriers, but no additional
