Hello! The first seminar after Spring Break will feature Jim Rising from the University of Toronto, speaking about speciation. Hope to see you there!
April 5, 2010 Jim Rising Senior Professor, Ecology & Evolutionary Biology University of Toronto "Speciation, hybridization, and geographic variation in birds" How are new species formed? Jim will talk about geographic variation (based in part on genetic variation) and how patterns of geographic variation may reflect the sometimes conflicting forces of local adaptation and gene flow. His emphasis will be on my own research on songbirds in the Americas, and will shed light on this interesting topic. Seminars typically begin at 7:30 P.M. (doors open at 7:00) in the Visitors’ Center Auditorium; as always, admission is free and open to all. Hear great talks, meet the speakers, and enjoy browsing at WildBirds Unlimited! ******************************************* You can keep up-to-date with upcoming events at the Cornell Lab & Sapsucker Woods by becoming a Fan of us on Facebook!
