Volume 2 Lab 1 uses CUBE in conjunction with Gatekeepers, which is
confusing. Okay, I kind understand that mechanically CUBE works the same
way as an H323 gateway in that you send the traffic and if everything is set
up correctly it works. Why are gatekeepers and gatekeeper-controlled trunks
used
For budget conscious home lab purposes there probably isn't substantial reason
to go with multiple NICs, but I wanted to offer up a different perspective,
purely for technical value. Let me preface by saying I use my lab server for
more than just voice study. I also work with other Cisco applica
I use two nic cards in my pc that runs the vmware, so I can have access to the
internal vmware network (not a private address space), and the external
internet at the same time. But as far as the images themselves are concerned I
agree, there is no advantage of having two nics.

I took a look at the initial configs for volume2, lab 1. There was no MGCP
config on the BR1 router, even though the workbook said not to permanently
delete any commands for the MGCP question. Not sure if the PL initial config
had MGCP configured or partially configured, etc.

I realized this as I wrote it. Its counter productive to selling PL time,
but then I see it as being similar to sharing configuration files for the
routers, no? It would probably make more sense if they're changing the
image that VMware is using, and if that is the case, then it isn't practical
I'm pretty sure they are copying images to get your PL lab session going.
Those might be too big at 10+GB each. Maybe they could post a BARS tar file,
but then they would sell less PL time. My opinion. They are running a
business and have to pay for that equipment somehow. The numbers of pe
Maybe someone at IPX could answer this for me... For those of us using
home/office lab setups has there been any consideration given to being able
to inject broken configuration into CUCM for troubleshooting labs much like
the ability to paste configurations into the routers & switches? I'm

My question is not so much about specifics as it is clarity, would like to
know your opinion.
I'm working through implementing CUBE/SBC in this question (which I'm new
to.) As a Session Border Controller, the SBC allows the implementation of
security and conversion of voip traffic between codecs.
OK, Problem is partially resolved.

I think the INITIAL-configuration of the PSTN-router is wrong.
I have changed it in my home-lab:

With this config the debug isdn q931 looks like the output on page 63.
