When setting qos on a phone port, to trust dscp only. Is it necessary to
change the mls qos commands for cos ?
For example you are asked to trust DSCP values from a cisco phone and only
place signalling traffic into Queue 2 Threshold 3, no other values are
allowed. Lab 8 5.4
Why change the mls
By default switch trust cos convert cos to dscp using its cos-dscp-map
table.
To trust only dscp ; we have to add mls qos trust dscp ; then switch use
dscp-cos-map table to calculate dscp values.
Switch will trust either COS or DSCP from incoming packets not both.
Remaining value is calculated
Sorry I had a typo
By default switch trust incoming cos convert cos to dscp using its
cos-dscp-map table.
To trust only dscp ; we have to add mls qos trust dscp ; then switch use
dscp-cos-map table to calculate cos values.
Switch will trust either COS or DSCP from incoming packets not both.
The command in the port (trust cost) is required, even if the cos mapping is
to the queues and thresholds.
