A postdoctoral position is available at Brandeis University to
determine the structures of enzyme-inhibitor complexes as part of a
structure-based design program to develop new drugs against
Cryptosporidium parvum. This parasite is an important AIDS pathogen
and potential bio-warfare agent as well as a major cause of
gastrointestinal disease in the developing world. The project
involves laboratories with expertise in medicinal chemistry,
biochemistry, computational chemistry, parasite cell biology and
animal models of cryptosporidosis. The successful candidate must
have a Ph.D. with experience in protein crystallization, data
collection and structural refinement and the ability to work
independently in multidisciplinary environment. Familiarity with
basic molecular techniques is desirable.
