The Duerfeldt Lab (www.duerfeldtlabs.com) in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of Oklahoma has an immediate opening for a highly-motivated postdoc trained in structural biology, microbiology, and/or molecular biology. The major research interest of the lab is to exploit bacterial enzyme/pathway activation as a strategy to diminish microbial fitness and/or pathogenicity. The ideal applicant should have an interest in determining the structure, function, and essentiality of putative targets within pathogenic organisms to uncover their biological significance and therapeutic potential. While the position offers the opportunity to contribute to a number of initiatives, the focus of this position is to contribute to our ongoing interrogation of the ClpP system in Clostridium difficile. This represents a great opportunity for scientists interested in entering the C. difficile research community, especially in the structural and microbiology fields. We are located on the same floor as the University of Oklahoma’s Structural Biology Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) and as a COBRE supported lab, the Duerfeldt Group has prioritized access to all equipment, facilities, and expertise in the COBRE cores.
