Hello,
I read several things on the net about DVD burning not working with
k3b/growisofs
and Plextor drives, and I am facing the same issue :
OPC failed. Please try writing speed 1x.
Fatal error at startup: Input/output error
I am using growisofs 5.21, k3b version 0.11.14 and a DVD-R medium
So, I would like to apologize for all that noise I made for nothing : it
simply works.
But the file I tried to burn was a 4,2GB (ls -lh) and that seems to be
too much for mkisofs (there is probably a good reason for it ! size of
the media for ex ?). I ve tried with a 3 GB file, and the iso has

OK, sorry here are more details :
- the exact error message from growisofs was :
Warning: creating filesystem that does not conform to ISO-9660.
INFO: ISO-8859-1 character encoding detected by locale settings.
Assuming ISO-8859-1 encoded filenames on source filesystem,

This doesn't look like authentic growisofs message. It's normally

We have been trying to create the multiplatform DVD's that run on all the
platforms Win,Solaris and Mac. We have tried different versions of mkisofs
on Windows but were unsuccessful. Any help in this regard is highly
appreciated:
Case 1:
Hardware: Win 2k Advanced Server, SP4
Mkisofs version 1.14.
i've got problem with growisofs from dvd+rw-tools-5.21.4.10.8 package -
it doesn't close session sometimes. here is what i have done and what
has happened:

Oh, this just keeps getting better
everytime i want to burn something with the command :
/usr/local/bin/growisofs -dvd-compat -Z /dev/cd0a -J -R -D -l
-relaxed-filenames /home/hierwater/data
I get this errror :
:-( GET PERFORMANCE: insane Performance Data Length
/dev/pass0: "Current Write Speed" is 4.1x1385KBps.

I did some more testing on windows using the supplied burning
software and it made a bad disk, so I'm starting to think it's
the burner at this point. I'll see where Sony customer support
gets me.
Thanks, everyone. I'll let you know what I find.
Cheers,
