modprobe ide-scsi
in my /etc/rc.d/rc.local
and it seems to do the job.

That's very kind of you. The command is simply
cdrecord -v dev= -audio file.wav...
I'd advise adding -dummy because the chances seem good that it won't
work.

There was an exchange of correspondence on this topic a few months ago,
but I can't find a conclusion to it in the archives. Did anyone ever
attempt the firmware update that was discussed, and, if so, did it solve
the problem of not being able to write TAO cds?
