Hi,
Finally I think I found the speed problem with my PX716A, which was
burning my 8X Verbatim DVD+R at 12X or 4X. Actually, the discs are
recommended as 12X by Powerec. So, with Powerec enabled (in cdrecord,
when forcespeed is not used), the drive has a mind on its own, and
disable any speed p
Hi,
I reported earlier the speed problem with a PX-716A.
I made some new tests, using k3b/growisofs. This time, in k3b I used
"Ignore" as speed selection (there is no -speed switch with the
growisofs command) since growisofs displayed the drive would use 8.2X.
(see previous thread :

Hi,
It is the same URL . I just missed the file. Just grab the latest one.

It does. See my new post about the problem. It concerns growisofs actually.
The problem with cdrecord is another one : the fact that

Hi,
I think the speed problem with the PX716A is related to growisofs. It
seems that cdrecord with dvd support is not affected.

Hi all,
I have discussed with Alexander Noe, who has done some reverse
engineering to find the plextor commands for DVD scanning. He gave me
some code, which he allowed me to disperse so that software developers
can add DVD scan support to their software.
It contains the proprietary commands fo

Please, you are trying to do this, by misleading me that this list would
bring no help about the problems, which is false. This list is also used
by Andy, who is the author of dvd+rx-tools.

If you did not use cdrecord-ProDVD in the first case, then you did not use

Do not expect any help for bastardized cdrecord variants here.

Hi,
This is a bug report I sent first to k3b team (KD bugzilla #97992).
However, this may concern growisofs/cdrtools/kernel, so I send a copy of
it here. Sorry if I report too many things, but this may interest
growisofs authors, at least for the speed command part (I guess).
I have got a PX-7
