Hi,

while reading "new" data (not audio) from a relative new CDRW, which
has not seen more than 10 read/write cycles, I got many C2-errors.

Since the recorder as well as the medium arent that bad, I am
wondering wether it is possible to have another source of this...

Interesting it was, that only files of a very short length and of one
 subdirectory got victims of that.

The CDRW was written in multisession format.
The write process has taken place about a week before or so
The CDRW were stored in a dry, dark place at room temperatur.
The CDRW medium is "new" (~ 10 RW cycles)
The recorder is new (~2 month old)
The firmware of the recorder is updated to the newest version.
 The OS is Linux 2.4.19pre8
The writer was cdrecord 1.11a21 (22?)
The CDRW has been cleared with "fast erase" (TOC etc only) every time.

Is there any chance to proof, whether the medium is damaged (in
itsself -- means production of it wasn't ok) OR the medium was
damaged by the recorder OR the recorder is damaged? Is there a
chance to write files "in a normal way" (= mkisofs + cdrecord ) to a
disk so that they have "weak bit patterns" and got corrupted if tried
 to be read?

 Any other idea?

I am asking, because I dont want to ring a false alarm at Plextor`s .... ;-)

At last, here is the current ATIP of that medium:
