While is a bad idea to reject mail without SPF records, its a good idea to
reject email if the SPF record is present and incorrectly set or not
authorized for the sender (hardfail).

You were lucky you got a repsonse. I didn't and I was getting persistent
spam for years. Till I started looking deeper. The company behind was
internap. I think still it is. I went around and published the information I
had including the MTAs. It then stopped.
I'm switching a couple of servers from fbsd to CentOS.
In fbsd I'm used to ee as the text editor.
Is that available in CentOS?
