I am pretty sure that there was at least talk, from the KVM side, to
try be able to be aware of other hypervisors, such as virtualbox and
handle things gracefully. I haven't heard if any code was developed or
not though.
Hope that helps.

Great, yes that is what research at Clarkson University tried to do.
As far as I know no one at Clarkson is actively working on it though.
I will check with them when I get a chance though.

I was also going to mention that we should look at scalability and
performance isolation.

adding a ramdisk= line to your domU config should help.
Also it is a good idea to also copy /lib/modules/ to the
guest's /lib/modules.

suggest to take some time to search xen.markmail.org for either
error messags or key words that may lead you to some exact
instructions of the mkinitrd that will work for your setup.

isor, the guest must also have a Xen setup
in it.
I am guessing that you don't want to run xen within a xen guest, so don't
use that :)

Some combination of the above, you should be able to pretty closely
mirror the kernel command line
with the combination of kernel, root, and extra parameters.
The only tricky part would be to rebuild with any missing modules.
Hope that helps,

This will also get rid of any potential pygrub security issues as well.

Just a sanity check, proper IOMMU support, such as Intel VT-d, is needed
for passing devices to fully virt guests. Does your system support VT-d?

I have heard of one other option:
Halsign TurboGate Tools

I haven't tried them personally, but I have seen them announced on the
Xen mailing lists.
