You do need to copy the keyring to wherever you are running the commands. See http://ceph.com/docs/master/rados/configuration/auth-config-ref/#keys If you didn't generate them, or the deployment tool didn't do it for you (e.g., mkcephfs does this for you) see http://ceph.com/docs/master/rados/oper

We have 12 osds per host, so we've gone conservative and set recovery max active to 1 and max backfills to 4. We also set nodown prior to adding a new osd since we saw flapping can be even more problematic in recovery. On Apr 12, 2013 8:04 PM, "Dave Spano" wrote: > What are you settings for reco

Waed, I've seen you returning to this line of questioning several times, and I assume the reason is that you are still trying to understand the reasons for computing object locations rather than having them statically defined. Ceph calculates object placement and distributes data randomly. This ha

Sam was complaining about this a few days ago too; I'm not sure if he ever found a solution. If you've got the patience you can actually build that image yourself; the source is in our git repo. If you don't, I'm sure our intrepid doc/website people can get it fixed up fairly soon. :) -Greg Softwar
