You do need to copy the keyring to wherever you are running the commands.
See http://ceph.com/docs/master/rados/configuration/auth-config-ref/#keys
If you didn't generate them, or the deployment tool didn't do it for you
(e.g., mkcephfs does this for you) see

Hi,
I'm eager to participate in this first summi. What time should I book on may

Cheers

We have 12 osds per host, so we've gone conservative and set recovery max
active to 1 and max backfills to 4. We also set nodown prior to adding a
new osd since we saw flapping can be even more problematic in recovery.

Waed,
I've seen you returning to this line of questioning several times, and I
assume the reason is that you are still trying to understand the reasons
for computing object locations rather than having them statically defined.
Ceph calculates object placement and distributes data randomly. This ha

What are you settings for recovery max active and backfill? Just curious.

We are also seeing a similar problem which we believe it's #3737. Our VMs
(running mongodbs) were being completely frozen for 2-3 minutes (sometimes
longer) while adding a new OSD. We have reduced recovery max active and
backfill settings and ensured that we have RBD caching and now it seems

Sam was complaining about this a few days ago too; I'm not sure if he
ever found a solution. If you've got the patience you can actually
build that image yourself; the source is in our git repo. If you
don't, I'm sure our intrepid doc/website people can get it fixed up
fairly soon. :)

Very interesting. I ran into the same thing yesterday when I added SATA disks
to the cluster. I was about to return them for SAS drives instead because of
how long it took, and how slow some of my RBDs got.
Are most people using SATA 7200 RPM drives? My concern was with Oracle DBs.

Hi,
I found that documentation on peering process(
http://ceph.com/docs/master/dev/peering/) is very helpful. But the state
model graph at the end of page is two small to see. I'm wondering is there
a clearer version of it?
Thanks.

Hi,
from the beginning, I have never seen the command "ceph -w" works on my
cluster.
The only thing I obtain, is the "ceph status" then one very old error
message :
root! keron:~# ceph -w

Actually I didn't put any data into my Ceph cluster.
I was just trying to understand Ceph's principles but reading code and
running a test cluster. A lot of operations were done and I can't remember
them. So I just ignored this error message and did mkcephfs.
But I still remember that I was focuse
Hi,
i'm doing my first steps in ceph/rados.
The hardware is waiting to be installed but my first action is
installing a virtual test-config:
vm-ware, 3 nodes, ubuntu 12.10, kernel 3.8.5, ceph 0.60
I have configured the virtual-machines but running 'mkcephfs -a -c
/etc/ceph/ceph.conf -k /etc/c
