I can completely agree with this assessment. We actually run one of our
bigger sites on MSDE, which we actually downsized from MS-SQL to save on
licensing costs. Works great, and by all appearances, seems like MSSQL. In
almost every case, time (ms) was nearly the same, in a couple of situations
I think you might want to consider MSDE (Desktop version of SQL Server).
This version is functionally the same as MSSQL 2000 with the exception that
it limits you to 5 concurrent connections. If this is a small group or a
medium sized group with quasi-persistant connections, this will work fine.
