As a kid in kindergarten I remember that we had to say the Pledge of
Alleigiance every morning unless we had a note from our parents. My mother
being a Jehovah's Witness (barf), I wasn't allowed to say it. So every
morning I sat down and didn't say it...no big deal...but a 8 year old kid

Keeping the "Under god" reference has two problems:
1: Since it's taught in schools, that means the government is endorsing
religion.
2: It implies that our nation is somehow endorsed by god.
#1 is unfair to children being raised as atheists, and #2 leads to "holy
