I don't find the ads that annoying personally.I don't think I understand
what the "labels" are though... are these the terms for the Google adwords?
Another minor quibble, wouldn't it be better if the google search defaulted
to the site?

This would actually add more information to a page, not less.
As for the ads
The most important thing you should consider is what is your primary
motivation for the site: A resource of information, or to generate
revenue.
Techniques like you've done putting the ads in the way of the content
definitely makes the ads more likely to be read. And from a business

IMO it's actually less obtrusive than the layout that you have there
now, it's easy to see or skip depending on the time the reader has...
