I want to write a five year plan for my companies internet team.
Something that will give an idea of where we are and where I want us
to go. I've never written anything like this so I have no idea where
to begin. I've found references to writing one for myself but it
doesn't seem to work for what

I think it would be a good idea to first define what your goals are
for the end of that timeframe, what the company will look like (size,
business operations, customers, employees, etc), and any other
predictions for your company's future positon. You should be able to
work backwards from there.
I wouldn't go any longer term than 2 years. You may even want to limit it to 1
year or 18 months with a smaller provision for 'the future'.
This is something I do a lot of, but it's a bit hard to help you without
knowing a little bit more.
