We use acronis at work. It works okay. I only say okay because sometimes
it fails to back up. The external hard drive will get out of sync with
acronis for some reason that I have not figure out. Then, I have to delete
the acronis partition and start over. A pain in the ass because I don't

Acronis looks pretty sweet. I'm willing to pay a little for a really quality
solution.

We're actually looking at working it in to the budget for next year -
our current backup solution is working but just barely. Much has
changed since it was put in to place.

I have never been terribly happy with the backup included with Windows, it just
doesn't seem to do a good job managing space, I do have about 700 gig of files
and a 1TB backup drive, so I need something that is pretty good at maximizing
the available space and not constantly filling up the driv
Here is another article on Windows backup solutions.
It actually goes into a lot of detail describing how to seperate your
Windows Installation and Programs from your Data totally.
One program which they mentioned, which I forgot about, was Macrium Reflex

As the subject suggests, I'm interested in something I can run on Windows.

It gives me errors and not enough status on what it's actually doing. It's
made for non-techies from what I can gather. I don't trust it, and I can't
get it to work properly.

Something could be fundamentally wrong with your current windows
installation itself then.
Have you run Malwarebytes recently to check it out?

Let me know what you find because I can't find anything for free, cheap or

We use Backup Exec for onsite backups to external disks, and JungleDisk for
pushing files off-site for disaster recovery.

So far I've dodged the bullet but it's now time to for me to get serious
about backing up data.
I'm thinking of purchasing a NAS and putting 4 1TB disks in it and using
that as the backup system. Does anyone have any suggestions for software
that will back my servers (all wind2k3+) up to the NAS?
