So, I got the case for my DVD Drive.
Had a bit of trouble getting it set up.  Apparently there was something
(looked like glue) on one the power jumpers which was prevented the
connection from being made.  Once I scraped that away the jumper thing
seemed to work and the device was found when plugged into the Firewire port.

The first thing I notice is that if I boot up the computer with the
external drive connected, but not turned on, windows does a chkdsk on drive
C and then gives me a blue screen of death (I forget the specific error)

The second thing I notice is that I lost my Primera Bravo (A duplicator /
printer combo) drive, which is also plugged in via Firewire.
Nothing I can do brings it back.

Yesterday I also uninstalled Roxio CD Creator 5 and installed Roxio
CD/DVD Creator 6.  I am wondering if somehow installing CD Creator 5
removed something that helped find the Primera drive.  I'm a bit upset
about that one.  I'm gonna have to get on the phone w/ tech support today.

I tried the DVD Drive both via USB (Only burns CDs at about 10x) and via
the Firewire (can burns CDs 35-40x).  Firewire is the way to go here (I
understand that USB can't get fast enough to record a DVD).  I'm still not
sure why there are 3 Firewire ports on the back of the case, yet.  (I
haven't had a chance to pick up any DVDs yet.)
