the real trick is to hang the board yourself, and hire a professional
to do the mud and tape.
they can often do a whole house in 4 hours, if they are good and have
the right tools. best 400 bucks you will ever spend.

Did it all mudded it, sanded it - felt smooth and clean. Painted it and

Supposedly, the trick is LOTS of very thin coats of mud. Spray texture
helps, too. My husband is fairly decent at it now. I totally lack the
patience, though I'm good at hanging it. Taping and mudding is way too
slow for me.
