They still have yet to enroll even a single Oregonian, NPR reports:
When Cover Oregon opened Oct. 1, executive director Rocky King was excited.
He'd been preparing for years. "Day one
Now that is a good deal.
How is that getting paid for?

In California, a family of four making 50K a year would be eligible for a
536 dollar a month tax credit. Ttheir premium would range from 46 a month
to 378 a month after the credit depending on the plan they choose.
The Covered California website has been up and functional for months and is

Yes, my plan sucks. I'm doing some contracting right now and work through
KForce. I get paid well, which is nice, but the benefits definitely blow

$5,600 out of network deductible. And my medical/dental/vision premium is

Ah, it's fixed.
When i first looked at it in chrome, the menu was stacked and when you
clicked it expanded down. After three clicks I had to scroll past all the
open menus to get to the content below.

It's a fair price if you're looking for insurance, not if it's mandated and
you can't afford it. I wonder if the unemployed get a discount.

Wow, your employer plan sucks. I pay only $88 a month for my high
deductible family plan ($4000, with $12K out of pocket max).
I thought my plan sucked...but yours really sucks...not only do you have
high deductible, you have high premium too.

And, dang, 400 or 500 a month for family coverage is damn good in Oregon.
I'm currently W-2 through a contracting agency and I pay over $800 a month,
as my contribution, for a high deductible plan. I like the HSA option for
pre-tax deductions, but still, even with an employer contribution and bein
I tried the path that Sam detailed and it worked fine for me in multiple
browsers, so not sure what the issue he encountered is.
As for the "glitches" that are detailed in that video, I guess it depends
on what one means by a glitch. It is the case, definitely, that the site
does not allow you to

You don't? Wow.
I tried a few times and finally got it to show me some plans. A family of
four making $50k will pay around $500 a month with a $5k deductible. Is
that mandatory? That could pretty much break the bank for them.

D'oh. Someone didn't do load testing, I guess.
The Oregon exchange site, coveroregon.com, seems to be doing well. It's
actually a pretty nice site. Nice design, useful layout, multi-lingual.
Hope NY pulls it together quickly. And uses something other than Drupal :)

I fully expected it to be this way... They probably only got servers based
on XXX connections and didn't have the budget to start large and then scale
down. I am sure there were many talks by the infrastructure team of "When
oct 1 hits it is going to slashdot us in to oblivion" and the manager

Out of curiosity I decided to take a peek at the exchange coverage in NY.
My chuckle is from a technical perspective. I keep getting this error:
